General questions about working with wallpaper

How do I remove old wallpaper from the wall?

To remove wallpaper, first scratch it with a nail roller. Then apply diluted wallpaper remover with a brush or spray bottle. Repeat this process until the wallpaper can be easily pushed off the wall with a spatula.

Do I need a professional to wallpaper?

Not necessarily! With a little manual skill and patience, you can easily do the wallpapering yourself. Go for it!

What to do if the wallpaper is bubbling?

Stay relaxed! Bubbles often form during drying and in most cases disappear on their own. If they are still there after a day, you can fill them with a paste syringe and press them down carefully. If the bubbles are long, the wallpaper may have been left to soak for too short a time.

Planning and preparation

How do I calculate my wallpaper requirements?

  1. Measure the room circumference and multiply this by the room height to calculate the square meter area.
  2. Do not subtract window and door areas - this way you have enough wallpaper for corners and corrections.
  3. Divide the area by the number of square meters of a roll (e.g. 5.33 m² for Euro rolls).

How do I prepare the surface?

For dark wallpaper, the surface should be color-matched. Paint it with a white primer, which you can adjust with tinting paint. This will prevent white seams from showing through.

Where do I start wallpapering?

Start on the wall closest to the window. Use a spirit level or plumb line to make sure the first strip is straight.

Material questions and problems

Which wallpapers can be painted over?

Nonwoven and vinyl wallpapers can usually be painted over without any problems. With paper wallpaper or scrub-resistant wallpaper, test a small area first to make sure that the paint adheres.

How do I avoid air bubbles?

Air bubbles often occur when the soaking time is too short. After applying the paste, give the wallpaper enough time (see manufacturer's instructions) before hanging it.

What does rapport mean?

A rapport indicates when the pattern of a wallpaper repeats (e.g. every 64 cm). With a staggered rapport (e.g. 64/32 cm), the pattern is adjusted alternately.

Cleaning, disposal and care

How do I remove paste stains?

With washable wallpaper, you can wipe off paste stains with a damp sponge. With sensitive wallpaper, test it first in an inconspicuous place to avoid damage.

How do I dispose of old wallpaper?

You can simply dispose of paper wallpaper in the paper waste. Vinyl, nonwoven and textile wallpaper belong in the residual waste.

Purchasing and ordering

How do I order samples?

You can order samples directly from the product page by switching to the "Sample section". Most samples are free and we are happy to send them to you. Alternatively, you can request samples by phone, fax or email.

Can I exchange wallpaper?

Yes, within 14 days. Please note that shipping costs are non-refundable. You can find details in ourTerms and Conditions.

How do I find suitable products?

Just look under the heading "Suitable products" on the respective product page. There you will find recommendations that are coordinated in terms of color and style.

Design tips

How do I design a wall with borders?

Borders set accents! You can use them:

  • Use them as a color transition between two wall colors.
  • Attach them in the middle or in the upper third of the wall to change the effect of the room.
  • Combine them with plain wallpaper or painted walls.

What can I combine wallpaper with?

Wallpaper goes well with:

  • Matching colors
  • Borders
  • Fabrics
  • Indirect lighting
  • Stylish floor coverings

Common problems and solutions

My wallpaper has stains - what should I do?

These are production errors that you can complain about. Report the faulty rolls to us and send us the insert note and photos of the errors.

Why do seams form after wallpapering?

Drafts or temperature fluctuations can cause seams. Make sure the room temperature is even (18-22 °C) and avoid drafts for at least 24 hours after wallpapering.
